An Apalachee High School student has been selected for State School Superintendent Richard Woods' 2023-24 Student Advisory Council. Sophomore Ben Nungesser says he applied for the role because he wanted to help impact our schools in a positive way.
Sixty-nine students across the state were selected after writing essays addressing issues in education. Ben says, "I wrote about how I wanted to help the education of the students in our schools. I hope to make our education more enjoyable while keeping it effective."
Ben attended Neidig Elementary School and Quakertown Christian School, both in Pennsylvania. He says he wants to attend college and get a master's degree.
As part of the Student Advisory Council, he will meet with State Superintendent Woods and offer feedback on the impact of state policies in the classroom and other education-related issues. They will also serve as the Superintendent’s ambassadors to their respective schools and participate in service projects.
