2026-27 BCSS Helen Ruffin Picture Book Reading Bowl
Great job to the students and coaches who participated in the 2026 Barrow County School System Helen Ruffin Picture Book Reading Bowl on October 22, 2026, at Winder Elementary. Austin Road Elementary, Bethlehem Elementary, Bramlett Elementary, County Line Elementary, Holsenbeck Elementary, and Winder Elementary participated in the event.
The competition consisted of five rounds of 12 questions about the content of 20 Georgia Book Award Nominees for K-3rd grade school students. Points were tallied from each round. The following teams were recognized for their achievements at the district level:
- 1st Place: Holsenbeck Elementary School
- 2nd Place: Bramlett Elementary School
- 3rd Place: Austin Road Elementary School
Holsenbeck Elementary and Bramlett Elementary will represent Barrow County in the East Regional competition on November 14, 2026 at Middle Georgia State University.
