WBHS Senior Angel Barrios Bohorquez Named NEGA RESA Exemplary English Learner

Barrow County School System is proud to recognize Angel Barrios Bohorquez, a senior at Winder‑Barrow High School, as the NEGA RESA Exemplary English Learner. Angel was honored during an awards ceremony held at the Georgia Department of Education in Atlanta alongside State School Superintendent Richard Woods. This recognition celebrates high‑achieving English Learners who demonstrate academic excellence, strong leadership, exemplary character, and outstanding attendance.
Selection Criteria:
- Currently enrolled in a Georgia public high school as a senior on track for graduation with the 2026 graduating class.
- Minimum 3.5 GPA.
- Demonstrated leadership (i.e., extra-curricular activity, sports, clubs, employment, community service, etc.).
- Exemplary character, outstanding behavior, and regular attendance as locally defined.
Angel exemplifies these qualities through his academic success and involvement in athletics and leadership opportunities. He will attend Soka University of America in Aliso Viejo, California, where he plans to major in Psychology while competing in cross country and track. Angel earned both academic and athletic scholarships covering 100 percent of his college costs. He was joined at the ceremony by his ESOL teacher, Mrs. Anabel Snyder, as well as his mother, aunt, and grandmother, all of whom shared in celebrating this outstanding achievement.
