Marketing and Management is one of three pathways in the Marketing Cluster. Marketing is the process of developing, promoting, pricing and distributing goods and services to customers in order to satisfy customer wants and needs. Students participating in Georgia’s Marketing and Management Pathway will obtain knowledge and skills in management and entrepreneurship, professional sales and marketing, buying and merchandising, marketing communications and promotion, marketing information management and research, distribution and logistics, global marketing, and e-marketing.
PATHWAY COURSE & DESCRIPTIONS:
Course 1—Marketing Principles - 08.47400
This course will serve as the foundational course for all Marketing Pathways. Marketing Principles addresses all the ways in which marketing satisfies consumer and business needs and wants for products and services. Students develop a basic understanding of employability, foundational and business administration skills, instructional projects with real businesses, and work-based learning activities including School-Based Enterprises.
Course 2—Marketing and Entrepreneurship - 08.45100
This second level course builds on the concepts taught in Marketing Principles. Students will learn about the various types of business ownership and what owning a business involves and requires. Projects include researching famous entrepreneurs, interviewing and having entrepreneur guest speakers, learning about franchises and creating a business plan for a future business.
Course 3—Marketing Management - 08.45200
Students assume a managerial perspective in applying economic principles in marketing, analyzing operations needs, examining distribution and financial alternatives, managing marketing information, pricing products and services, developing product/service planning strategies, promoting products and services, purchasing, and professional sales.
