Have you ever wondered how the military operates? Do you want to discover the leader in you? Do you enjoy working as part of a team and being physically and mentally challenged? Then the Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) pathway may be for you! Each level of JROTC offers a rigorous fitness program, drill and ceremony training, and community service in addition to the lessons listed below.
PATHWAY COURSE & DESCRIPTIONS:
LET 1: Introduction to Leadership, Character Development, Basic Life Skills, and Citizenship - 28.03100
The first class in the pathway is the basic course. It provides Cadets with entry level knowledge regarding US Army customs and traditions. You will cover: Moving up in JROTC, Roles of Leaders and Followers, Rights and Responsibilities of American Citizens, Principles of Leadership, Personal Appearance and Uniform Standards.
LET 2: Intermediate Leadership and Character Development Traits, Life Skills, Geography, and Government - 28.03200
The second class in the JROTC pathway is the intermediate course. In this course you will learn how to be a better citizen and study how the US Army fits into our government and nation. You will cover: Cultural and Individual Diversity, Motivation, Making right choices, Styles of Leadership, the US Constitution, First aid, and the effects of Drug and Alcohol use.
LET 3: Advanced Leadership, Principles of Management, Advanced Life Skills, and Orienteering - 28.03300
The last class in the pathway is geared toward advanced leadership. Cadets will lead classmates in planning, organizing, and executing various projects and programs. You will cover: The Department of Defense, Career Exploration, Goals Setting, Decision Making and Problem Solving.

Enrollment in JROTC allows you to participate in the following extracurricular activities: Raider Team – This team competes in events ranging from 3 mile team runs, cross country rescue challenges, obstacle courses and a one rope bridge course. This fall sport is comprised of our most dedicated and physically fit individuals. Color Guard – This year-round element is the most widely utilized battalion team. Aside from competitions and sporting events, they are requested to present our Nations Colors at almost all city and county functions. Academic Bowl Teams – These teams compete in online testing in Math, Science, English, Social Studies and JROTC curriculums against 1300 other teams around the nation. Rifle Team – This GHSA sport competes in area and state meets using precision air rifles in the standing, kneeling and prone positions. Our team members are disciplined and mentally focused throughout this winter sport season.
