Mechatronics
Sims Academy students are able to build a strong foundation for their technology and manufacturing careers through our dual enrollment partnership with Lanier Technical College. In this program, highly qualified instructors from Lanier Technical College teach students in the Career and Technical Education programs available to students through Sims Academy.
The Mechatronics Technician certificate is designed to provide students with entry level understanding and skills to perform duties on mechatronic equipment and industrial automation. Topics include safety procedures, mechanics, fluid power, and pumps and piping system maintenance. Students will obtain knowledge that will provide an understanding of the basic technologies used in industry to achieve automated processes.
The program provides learning opportunities that introduce, develop and reinforce academic and technical knowledge, skill, and attitudes required for job acquisition, retention, and advancement.
Completion of the Mechatronics Technician Certificate positions the student to continue in the mechatronics program to earn additional certificates, diploma or degree. Candidates prepare for careers in several areas of industrial maintenance, including electronics, industrial wiring, motors, controls, PLC's, instrumentation, fluid power, mechanical, pumps and piping, and computers.
