PATHWAY COURSE & DESCRIPTIONS:
Course 1—Introduction to Healthcare Science - 25.52100
The first class is the foundation course for the Allied Health and Medicine Pathway. This course enables students to receive initial exposure to the many Healthcare Science careers as well as employability, communication, and technology skills necessary in the healthcare industry. You will learn: Infection Control, Safety, Medical Terminology, Legal Responsibilities, CPR/First Aid, Human Growth and Development.
Course 2—Essentials of Healthcare - 25.44000
The second class in the Allied Health and Medicine Pathway is primarily anatomy and physiology. Students learn how the body works and diseases and disorders associated with body systems. You will learn: Vital Signs, First Aid, Sterile Technique, and Application of Medical Terminology. Students who earn 1 unit credit for this course shall also receive 1 unit of science credit for Human Anatomy and Physiology. Students will receive the same grade for both courses.
Course 3—Allied Health and Medicine - 25.43700
The course is designed to offer students the opportunity to become effective and efficient multi-skilled healthcare providers as they develop a working knowledge of the different areas of healthcare.

This course enables students to receive initial exposure to the many Healthcare Science careers as well as employability, communication, and technology skills necessary in the healthcare industry. This lab based course exposes students to the careers, ethics, and regulations in the growing, multi-faceted biotech industry through development and application of the laboratory and research skills required to be employable. You will learn: Safety Regulations, Industry Uses, Laboratory Techniques, and Policy Issues. This course counts toward satisfying the fourth science requirement and a CTAE pathway completion requirement.
Course 3—Applications of Biotechnology - 25.56900
This heavily lab- based course teaches more technical and advanced yet common laboratory skills that are seen in medical, agricultural, forensic, and pharmaceutical labs while also dealing with the applications to modern life in a safe, effective, ethical manner. You will learn: Data Analysis, Advanced Lab Techniques, and Current Issues and Trends. This course counts toward satisfying the fourth science requirement and a CTAE pathway completion requirement.

The main role of a Nurse Aide is to provide basic care to patients and assist them in daily activities that they might have trouble with on their own. This can include bathing, feeding, or other activities in daily life. The ideal Nurse Aide is compassionate and enjoys helping others. In nursing or long-term care facilities, an Aide is often a patient’s main caregiver. An Aide should have good communication skills as it’s their job to bring all patient concerns and issues to their supervisor. Nurse Aides may also work with medical technology, including billing software, health information software, and/or medical record charting software. On the job, Nurse Aides report to either registered nurses or licensed practical nurses or licensed vocational nurses.

ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS
- Must be 16 years of age.
- ACCUPLACER Testing, or submit SAT, ACT, COMPASS, or ASSET test scores.
FINANCIAL AID
This program is not eligible for the Pell Grant, but may be eligible for Institutional and State Financial Aid. Contact a Financial Aid Counselor for eligibility requirements and application materials.

- Students are accepted each semester based on space and course availability.
- Students must complete ALL COURSES with a grade of C or higher in order to graduate.
- NNAAP test must be taken within one year of program completion.
- Please be advised that though a student may complete Nurse Aide coursework while under the age of 18, many employers require individuals to be at least 18 for employment.
