Secondary Special Education Coordinator and Transition Coordinator
Katie van Rooyen began teaching at Winder-Barrow High School in 2008 where she taught small group academics and Reading Enrichment. She was in the classroom for seven years before becoming Department Head and Staffing Coordinator, then Special Education Program Specialist there. As Special Education Secondary Coordinator for the district, she will support middle school, high school, and transition programs.
Katie earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education from Georgia College and State University in 2008 and her Master’s Degree in Accomplished Teaching from Georgia Southern University in 2011. She received her Educational Leadership certification from the University of West Georgia in 2020.
She grew up in Grayson and graduated from Grayson High School. She is married with two daughters.
