Barrow County Schools hosted its annual Spring Advisory Committee Meeting, bringing together dedicated educators, business leaders, and community partners to celebrate the achievements of the Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education (CTAE) programs. The event highlighted the remarkable progress made by students and the impactful contributions of the advisory committee members.
Key Highlights:
- Graduation Rates: The CTAE programs achieved an impressive graduation rate of 99% in FY 2024, reflecting the commitment to student success.
- Non-traditional Concentrators: Participation in non-traditional fields increased significantly, with a rise from 12% in FY 2022 to 17% in FY 2024.
- Work-Based Learning: The participation rate in work-based learning programs grew from 31% in FY 2022 to 38% in FY 2024, surpassing state targets.
- Pathway Completion: Pathway completion rates improved to 65% in FY 2024, exceeding the state target of 35.89%.
- Credentials of Value: The attainment rate for credentials of value reached 69% in FY 2024, demonstrating substantial growth and surpassing state targets.
The meeting also featured inspiring speeches from students and community members, including Emma Pitman, a junior at BASA, who shared her journey and the impact of Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs) on her education and career goals.
Additionally, Millie Finch, owner of Night Sky Coffee, was honored with the Community Member Award for her exceptional contributions to the CTAE programs, including hosting field trips, judging competitions, and securing job placements for students.

The event concluded with a call to continue innovating, supporting, and expanding opportunities for students.
