Each year, the Farm Bureau awards a Teacher of the Year (TOTY) for their outstanding work in incorporating agriculture into Georgia’s teaching standards.
Andrea Rowe is the Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) Lab Teacher at Austin Road Elementary School.
Her recognition as District 4 TOTY stems from last year’s Agriculture Day, where Mrs. Rowe worked diligently to create an engaging learning experience for her students. She incorporated a rainfall simulator, pollinators, chickens, cotton, wildlife, soil, and vegetation, among other elements.
Mrs. Rowe goes above and beyond to provide her students with the best hands-on STEAM lessons, preparing them for a successful future. She is a strong advocate for STEAM education and its benefits for students.
“I am truly honored to be Farm Bureau’s Teacher of the Year for District 4. I love promoting agricultural literacy and ensuring that children understand the origin of their food. As the STEAM teacher at Austin Road, I am privileged to inspire my students to dream big,” said Andrea Rowe. “Together, we engage in exciting learning experiences with Farm Bureau, grow our own food, conduct taste tests, and have started planning a sensory garden that will include chickens. I am grateful for the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of our students and foster a love for agriculture in the classroom.”
Congratulations, Andrea Rowe!
