The Barrow County School System and Barrow community have tragically lost two cherished students and two beloved teachers.

Our focus right now is on those hurting and grieving and the recovery ahead for the teacher and eight students who were injured and for the Apalachee High School family. We are grateful to our compassionate community for coming together and offering families support.

We are cooperating fully with law enforcement’s investigations while working on a plan to return to school. We will have more information for families soon related to that.

Please know, we are here for our students, families, and staff. In Barrow County we strive to be Barrow BOLD, meaning we ask our students and staff to be courageous in all they do each day. Our teachers, staff, law enforcement, emergency services, and the entire Barrow County community are proof positive of that. We cannot thank the community and the entire State of Georgia enough for the outpouring of support we have received.

Thank you,
Barrow County School System
