Dr. Adam Kurtz will join Barrow County School System as the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources on July 22, 2024. The Board of Education approved Dr. Kurtz for the top HR spot at their July 9 meeting.
Dr. Kurtz has 25 years of experience in education ranging from teacher and CTAE director to assistant principal and principal. He has also served as director of special education and human resources and, most recently, Associate Superintendent. He held these roles in Oglethorpe County, Clarke County, and Elbert County.
“Having worked in neighboring Georgia school districts for more than two decades, I have come to know Barrow County as a district with a strong history of educational excellence filled with a forward-thinking and dedicated staff. I am excited and honored to be a part of that team.”
Dr. Kurtz and his wife – an educator at Winder Elementary School - have been married for 24 years and have two children in college. He says he is passionate about helping others and serves as the board president for Family Counseling Services of Athens. For fun, Dr. Kurtz enjoys sculptural welding.
