Andrea Mason Recognized for 2024 Amplify Science of Reading Star Award

Amplify Science of Reading Star Award recipient

After graduating from the University of Georgia in 2000, Andrea Mason accepted her first teaching position at County Line Elementary School (CLES).

Her passion for student success continued to grow throughout the years.

Andrea has worked at County Line Elementary for an accumulation of twenty-four years.

She became the Academic Interventionist for CLES three years ago.

An Academic Interventionist provides instructional support for student success in academics. She’d focus on the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) to help students improve.

Recently, Andrea was announced as the Amplify 2024 Science of Reading Star Award winner in the MTSS Maestro category.

She was nominated for the award alongside one thousand others. She was nominated as a finalist for the award in March.

She was selected as the award winner for her outstanding success in implementing a Multi-Tiered System of Supports framework literacy for students.

“It’s really great that Barrow County is focusing so hard on streamlining the MTSS process, making sure that all schools are implementing it in the most effective way,” said Andrea.

“I think as we shift into the next few years, we’re going to see fewer kids struggling, especially with reading. We are working so hard at the county level on this, and I think we're going to see that trickle down and see a powerful effect.”

Andrea will attend an Amplify virtual celebration on Tuesday, May 21.

Congratulations, Andrea! Barrow County School System is proud of your hard work and accomplishments.
