The Barrow County School System hosted a celebration on Monday, Nov. 13, 2023 as the 2023-24 REACH Georgia Scholars signed their commitment forms.
REACH (Realizing Educational Achievement Can Happen) Georgia is a State of Georgia’s mentorship and college scholarship program. When the scholars signed their forms, they made a commitment to work with a mentor and an academic coach and maintain good behavior, grades, attendance, and graduate from high school.
Scholars who complete the program are awarded a $10,000 scholarship for any HOPE-eligible college in Georgia.
During the Signing Day ceremony, Barrow County School System Superintendent Dr. Chris McMichael talked about the importance and impact of the program. Other speakers included Mr. Kirk Shook, Executive Director to the Nonpublic Postsecondary Education Commission and two Class of 2024 REACH Georgia Scholars, Jadyn Franklin and Trinity Johnson. Mr. Shook shared a motivational message with the scholars while the students spoke about their experiences and offered advice.
Congratulations to our newest REACH Georgia Scholars!
