The Barrow County School System is proud to help support Adult Literacy Barrow's Newcomers Class. The Newcomers Class is dedicated to welcoming and educating people from other countries who are new to Barrow County. This program is in addition to the other important programs Adult Literacy Barrow and Lanier Tech offer like citizenship and English literacy classes.

Through Title III funding, our BCSS Social Work team and Family Engagement Specialist coordinated workshops for our immigrant families. That funding also allowed BCSS to collaborate with Adult Literacy Barrow’s Newcomers Class to provide additional support through guest speakers, field trips, and interpreters. The guest speakers and field trips focused on topics like financial literacy, employment, local government, our community parks, and available support services.
