[Español] As the Omicron variant continues to spread quickly in our community, we wanted to take a moment and share information related to COVID-19 and the anticipated inclement weather this weekend.
COVID-19 Protocol
In November, BCSS developed a decision matrix to help guide future decisions on a school-by-school basis. The four protocol levels are based on the percent of school population with a positive case.
To keep families and staff informed, we will publish the current protocol levels for each school on our website. If a school reaches Level III, impacted families will be notified of the protocols that will be followed, including a mask requirement.
You can also access the positive case data by school.
Voluntary COVID-19 Testing Program
The Barrow County School System is starting a voluntary, weekly COVID-19 testing program to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 by identifying positive cases quickly in our schools.
All BCSS students and staff may volunteer to participate in the weekly testing program. Testing will begin the week of January 31st.
Stay Home if Sick
We all must do our part to keep ourselves and others healthy. Please …
- Stay home if you are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms.
- Stay home if you have tested positive for COVID-19.
- Stay home if you are awaiting a COVID-19 test result, unless you are fully vaccinated and have no symptoms.
- Stay home if you have been in close contact with someone diagnosed with COVID-19 or someone awaiting test results, unless you are fully vaccinated and have no symptoms.
Inclement Weather
Weather forecasts indicate that we may see some snow or wintery mix starting on Saturday evening into Sunday. We encourage families to review our Inclement Weather plans.
Don’t forget that schools are closed on Monday to honor Martin Luther King Jr. Day. We’ll see you on Tuesday!
Thank you,
Barrow County School System
