Winder-Barrow High School hosted a “Doggs to Dawgs” event on Wednesday, December 18th to celebrate the ten former WBHS graudates that earned the UGA Director’s Cup for Winder-Barrow High School. They returned to the high school to speak on a panel to current seniors at WBHS that have aspirations to attend the University of Georgia as well.
These impressive Winder-Barrow High School students shared their insights on how high school prepared them for the rigors of college. Nine of the ten students were able to join us. They candidly shared advice on everything from academic life to social life with current WBHS seniors that have aspirations to attend the University of Georgia.
A common theme in their comments focused on how well their AP classes at WBHS prepared them for college classes. They learned time management and study skills. Repeatedly, students talked about how the Doggs Double "GG" effort from high school helped them be successful at UGA. The alumni also spoke about how important extracurricular activities and community were while in high school and encouraged current seniors to intentionally seek out community when they get to college as well.
Thank you to the students that joined us for the Doggs to Dawgs event. Congratulations on your success at the University of Georgia!
