More than 30 Barrow County middle school students competed in our district's Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl on Tuesday, Jan. 28 at the Center for Innovative Teaching. The reading bowl is a state competition that quizzes middle and elementary school students on books from the current list of Georgia Children's Book Award nominees.
Congratulations to Haymon-Morris Middle School for capturing first place and to Bear Creek Middle School for winning second. These top two teams will now compete at the East Regional Meet in Augusta, GA on Feb. 8.
For our elementary school division, Holsenbeck Elementary and Statham Elementary will represent us at the regional meet.
