Congratulations to Barrow County School System (BCSS) Special Education Director Amy Wadley for being recognized with the Georgia Parent Mentor Partnership (GaPMP) 2024 Phil Pickens Leadership Award. The award honors an administrator for their service to the partnership and observance of the values and mission of the GaPMP.
Former BCSS Parent Mentor Jared Callaway nominated her. He said, “Mrs. Wadley is a leader and extremely passionate about bringing the community together to support the students and families. She brought the post-secondary Project Search program to Barrow County. She has been instrumental in ensuring that the students and families of Barrow County have every opportunity to see their full potential. Her unwavering support of the GaPMP initiative prompts her to give her parent mentor a voice and platform to continuously interact and connect with families and staff at every turn.”
The award is named after the late Phil Pickens who served as state director of the Georgia Department of Education Special Services Department and founded the Georgia Parent Mentor Partnership.
As the recipient of the award, Mrs. Wadley will be invited to sit on the GaPMP Leadership Council in an advisory role.
