Beginning summer 2022, the Georgia Student Finance Commission, the entity that regulates the dual enrollment program, added a new requirement for dual enrollment students. Selective Service registration is for all male US citizens and male immigrants (regardless of lawful presence), ages 18 through 25.
Registration may occur 30 days prior to their 18th birthday. Eligible males must be registered with the Selective Service System before dual enrollment funds will be awarded. This includes all male students turning 18 even during the term of enrollment. For example, a 17-year-old male who will turn 18 on October, 30, 2022 MUST register with Selective Service, or the family will be responsible to pay for Dual Enrollment tuition and books.
This is a Federal Law. Complete information may be found at the Selective Service website.
