Building Maintenance
The primary objective of our Maintenance Department is to support students, teachers, and staff by properly maintaining and operating the System’s inventory of 24 facilities. These facilities encompass 2,300,000+ square feet of building space, 700+ acres of property and more than 1,000 instructional units. The Maintenance Department responds to and completes both proactive and reactive service requests on an annual basis in order to achieve this objective. These service requests include but are not limited to scheduled preventive maintenance tasks, providing contracted inspection and repair services for specialized facility systems, basic repair services to keep facilities in working order, maintenance of system wide energy management system, and installation and maintenance of system wide access control for exterior door security.
The Maintenance Department is also responsible for providing direction and training to custodians who clean our buildings each day. Contractors are utilized to service grounds and provide athletic turf care. The Barrow County Maintenance Department team is comprised of technicians, custodial trainers, and administrative staff members.
