Congratulations to Aperil Sellers for her promotion from Holsenbeck Elementary School Assistant Principal to HES Principal! The Barrow County Board of Education approved the promotion at the June meeting.
Principal Sellers has served all but one of her 14 years in education in Barrow County. Much of her teaching career was spent in Fifth Grade as a writing teacher at Yargo Elementary and as an Instructional Coach at Bethlehem Elementary. She’s been the Assistant Principal at HES for the past four years.
Principal Sellers is a Triple Dawg. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, her Masters’ degree in Instructional Technology: Design and Development, and her Specialist’s degree in Educational Administration and Policy from the University of Georgia.
“I have one son, Gavin, who was once a student in my 5th grade math class. That was an interesting experience for both of us. I moved up from South Georgia at the age of 18 and lived in the Gwinnett area for the past 25+ years. I moved to Winder because it was important for me to become a member of the community in which I serve. Winder always felt like home to me; I immediately felt a sense of love and support from my first interview in Barrow until today. There is a genuineness about the people in this community that I felt drawn to.”
