Lathan Pooser joined the administration at the Barrow Academy of Arts & Sciences (BASA) to serve as Assistant Principal. BASA will be opening in August 2020, and Pooser has been instrumental in helping to prepare staff and students for the new high school.
Pooser comes to Barrow from the Greater Atlanta Christian School where he served as the School of Music Director for the last two years. With music as a foundational component in his career, Mr. Pooser worked for 12 years as a music teacher and band director, where he achieved numerous accolades for his students' performances with the band and vocal ensembles. Teaching in South Carolina, Pooser not only spent time building the middle school musical programs, he also created mentoring opportunities for students and coached girls basketball.
Lathan Pooser (pronounced poo-sir) will oversee the fine arts and athletic programs for BASA. He will also offer support to Sims Academy with discipline and instruction.
