WBHS HEALTHCARE PROGRAM
Winder-Barrow High School has a strong Allied Health program with two instructors to meet the high demand from students interested in healthcare. Students in Allied Health take three courses to complete their pathway before graduation. We operate on a block schedule, so each course is one semester long.

  • The first course is an introduction to the healthcare field and covers topics from medical terminology to legal/ethical considerations to the history of healthcare.
  • Essentials of Healthcare is the second course which focuses on Anatomy and Physiology of the Human Body as well as disease and prevention.
  • The third class, Allied Health, takes a focused look at healthcare professions, such as dentistry, nursing, physician, emergency services, etc. It includes a culminating project for the pathway in which students create a portfolio that consists of resume and career research with education requirements.

WBHS will work to build a schedule that ties your professional experiences to the specific classes you teach.

SCHEDULE
As a teacher, you will work 190 days from August until the end of May, which includes 10 days for professional development and planning time. You can view our calendars here. BCSS operates on a block schedule. You will teach 3 classes that are about 90 minutes each, and you will have a planning period of the same length.
