Director of Communications & Engagement
If you are an experienced and talented communications professional with a passion for telling stories and engaging community, consider this career opportunity! We are hiring a Director of Communications and Engagement to lead our team in sharing Barrow BOLD stories. The ideal candidate will have a background in developing strategic communications plans, strong writing and editing skills, and experience with websites, social media and email communication management.
The Director of Communications and Engagement should have:
- 5 years of experience in a composite of the following areas: directing organizational public relations, community relations, media relations, government relations, and legislative activity.
- Preferred experience in schools and/or public sector.
- Experience in marketing/advertising, print operations, publications management, website management, digital communication and/or fundraising.
- Ability to follow laws and policies, interpret complex topics and communicate them to a diverse audience, and speak effectively before groups.
- Supervisory and human relations skills.

SCHEDULE & BENEFITS
The salary for this position is dependent upon experience. Barrow County School System offers an impressive benefits package, including the Teacher Retirement System (TRS) which provides pension benefits upon retirement. As a 236-day calendar employee, you will share many of the school breaks. See our staff calendars. This role will require some evening and possible weekend events.
