"Digital citizenship is character education in a networked world."
Media and technology are at the center of kids' lives every day. From a very young age, kids use technology at home and at school to connect with friends and family and to document their lives and create digital content of their own.
Barrow County School System values the rich learning experiences that technology brings to our classrooms. We believe that our students must be taught how to use online resources responsibly. With parents and families as our partners, we can help our students to gain skills, understanding, and mind-sets that will enable them to be responsible and safe in digital environments.
Digital citizens think critically about what they see online, understand the benefits and risks of sharing information, and balance screen time with other activities. But digital citizens aren't born—they're taught by parents and teachers! We encourage you to explore our six categories for digital citizenship to learn how to be a digital citizen.
