Food Pantry & Feeding (BCSS) Families

Food Pantry & Feeding Barrow County Families

The Feeding Barrow County School System (BCSS) Families Program began in 2010 in a partnership between the school district and the Local Pantry, a program of the Barrow County Cooperative Benevolence Ministry (BCCBM) Inc. BCSS was searching for additional ways to meet the needs of local families served by the weekend meal bag program. There was a need for a supplementary food program to help meet the needs of BCSS families.

Mr. Al Brown, Volunteer Food Pantry Manager, and volunteers prepare and serve in this program each month. The Feeding Families Program has met many needs of Barrow families through the years thanks to this partnership, and the faithful support of volunteers.

The Feeding (BCSS) Families Program served nearly twenty families per month in 2010. The program now serves between 70 and 100 families each month. This opportunity would not be possible without the generous support of the Barrow community with their monetary and volunteer time donations to the local Food Pantry.

BCSS is very grateful for the continued strong support of the BCCBM Board of Directors, the incredible behind-the-scenes work of volunteers each month, and the servant leadership of Mr. Al Brown, Volunteer Food Pantry Manager; Ms. Stephanie Byrd, BCSS Social Worker and Ellen Petree, BCSS School and Community Relations Specialist.
