Board of Education
The Barrow County Board of Education is the governing body of the Barrow County School System. The primary role of the Board is the legislation of the school system policies, which are executed under the direction of the school superintendent.

Each of the nine members are elected and serve a staggered four-year term; six members are elected by district and three members are at-large seats. Board of Education meetings are typically held the first Tuesday of each month beginning at 6 p.m. in the Board Room of the Professional Development Center Building located at 179 West Athens Street in Winder. Board work sessions are typically held the last Tuesday of every month.

To request to appear before the Barrow County Board of Education, this form must be filled out completely and submitted to the Superintendent's Office no later than 24 hours prior to the regularly scheduled Board of Education Meeting.

The Board of Education has voted to authorize the immediate purchase of the OpenGate Weapons Detection System to be installed in our three high schools starting as early as next week.
The Barrow County Board of Education has called a meeting to discuss in Executive Session immediate school safety enhancement options. The meeting will be Jan. 9 at 4 p.m. at the Central Office.
