Sept. 24 Update from AHS

sept. 24 update

AHS students and parents,

I want to commend our faculty, staff, parents, and students for the courage and compassion they showed today during our first day back on campus. While I know today was difficult, it was an important step toward recovery for our Chee Nation.

Thanks to our AHS Family, law enforcement, counselors, mental health providers, and transportation team, we welcomed 88% of our students back to campus.

As a reminder, social studies classes have been temporarily relocated to a nearby Barrow County School System (BCSS) building that we are calling Chee East. Buses will continue taking students to and from the locations until new classroom pods arrive and are installed on campus (anticipated by January 2025).

We understand some aren’t ready to return to school, yet, and the next few weeks will look a little different for all of us. Please continue to communicate directly with your school counselor about your family’s plans to return to school.

Thank you for your continued care and support for each other. I am so proud of our students and community and am looking forward to seeing you again tomorrow.

Jessica Rehberg
AHS Principal
