PARENT SURVEY FOR BCSS ACCREDITATION

Most of Georgia’s public school systems are accredited by Cognia, a nonprofit organization tasked with setting educational standards that prepare students for life after the classroom. Cognia will be conducting the accreditation review for the Barrow County School System in October 2021. As part of the accreditation process, schools submit their educational environment to a rigorous process of analysis and evaluation.

PARENT SURVEY

The comprehensive evaluation includes feedback from BCSS parents. We are asking all families to complete a short, three-question survey for each school* that one of their children attends by September 17, 2021. (ex. If you have children in elementary and middle school, complete the survey for each school. If you have two children in the same elementary school, complete the survey once.)

WHY IS ACCREDITATION IMPORTANT?

Accreditation is designed to help educational institutions boost their ongoing performance efforts for the benefit of their students. Participating in an accreditation program demonstrates the school's commitment to raising student performance and accountability.

BENEFITS

Parents can confidently make informed decisions about their children's education, knowing their child's school is accredited.

Accreditation is recognized across state lines, which assures parents that the school is meeting nationally accepted standards for quality and successful professional practice.

Students from accredited schools gain greater access to federal loans, scholarships, post-secondary education, and military programs that require students to attend an accredited institution.

Accreditation by Cognia lets other schools and colleges know that your child is coming from a school system that strives to provide the best education possible.
