[Español] Following guidance from the U.S. Department of Education regarding assessment, accountability, and reporting requirements for the 2020-2021 school year, the Barrow County School System has developed our spring Milestones testing calendar. We have been given additional flexibility at the state and federal levels, and we have taken advantage of every option offered to benefit our students. Please direct any questions about testing to your child’s school.
ELEMENTARY & MIDDLE
If a student is absent (ex. due to a quarantine), make-up tests can be completed as soon as the student returns to school. Other End-of-Grade (EOG) make-ups will be held on May 21.
Based on guidance from the Georgia Department of Education, Milestones will not be offered virtually. Our schools have developed specific plans to accommodate full-time digital learners to test on campus. Your child’s school will share additional details with you.
HIGH SCHOOL
May 5 and May 12 will be distance learning days for all in-person students; students will not come to school buildings on these days. End-of-Course (EOC) make-ups will be held on May 14.
Based on guidance from the Georgia Department of Education, Milestones will not be offered virtually. Full-time digital students may come to school on May 5 and May 12 to complete their testing. Schools will reach out to digital learners to share details on when their exams will be scheduled.
In December 2020, the State Board of Education voted to reduce Georgia Milestones EOC weight on students’ final grades. EOC exams will be weighted at 0.01%, and all other exams will count 20%. Schools will not be offering End of Pathway Assessments this year.
