Barrow County School System hopes you and your family had a wonderful winter break. We look forward to welcoming students back when in-person learning resumes on Monday, January 11, 2021.
Last semester, our schools were challenged with staff absences due to COVID-19. Administrators made constant adjustments to ensure instruction continued. We expect to walk a tight rope of uncertainty from day to day in the coming months as well. BCSS is working now to assess staffing levels to ensure that we can safely and effectively reopen each school next week. If we face a critical shortage of teachers, substitutes, and other staff at a specific school, we will use a targeted approach and switch that school to distance learning.
Please ensure your family has a plan if your child’s school must switch to digital learning. It could happen to any school, at any time. When a school needs to close, those families will be notified and provided with additional details. Please ensure that your contact information is updated on our Family Update Website.
As a reminder for students who are attending in-person classes and all staff members, please stay home if you:
- are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms,
- have tested positive or been diagnosed with COVID-19,
- are awaiting test results, or
- have been in close contact in the last 14 days* with someone diagnosed with COVID-19 or someone with COVID-19 symptoms who is waiting for test results.
It is important that we all do our part to keep ourselves and others healthy. Remember to wash your hands, wear a mask that covers both your nose and mouth, and keep your distance of at least 6 feet so that we can Save Our School Year.
Thank you.
