Congratulations BCSS families! We have almost made it through our first semester of this extremely challenging school year. Thank you for your resilience and patience as we navigated the constantly changing variables this year.
The fall semester ends this Friday, Dec 18. Remember that Friday is an early release day! Click here to see bell times. Parents, be sure to check your child’s in-progress grades on Infinite Campus (4th through 12th grades). Here’s a short video to demonstrate how.
The Georgia Board of Education is currently considering changing the weight of End of Course tests for this year. Typically, EOCs are worth 20% of a student’s final course grade. The state board will be voting on December 21st whether the value should drop to 0.01% or remain at 20%. Due to this potential change, BCSS will not be finalizing and posting semester grades until we return from the winter break. EOC courses will be weighted with the percentage the State Board decides, and all other exams will count 20%.
We are planning to resume in-person learning on Monday, January 11, 2021. However, based on our projected staff levels and current community spread the first week of January, there is a possibility that learning will resume in a hybrid or online only model. On Tuesday, Winder Elementary School had to transition to online learning for the rest of this week due to the negative impact on staffing levels from COVID-19 related quarantines.
We encourage all families to have a plan should we need to go into digital learning after the break. BCSS will send out information to our families before Friday, January 8th with any updates or changes.
We hope that you all have a wonderful, safe holiday.
