Third grade is looking forward to Spring, so we focused on gardening this week. Students read informational passages about gardens to help them write about how to plant a garden. Next, they were asked to design a new community garden for Mayor Blechinger. The challenge was to find the perimeter and area of each part of the garden to make sure it would fit in the allotted space. In science the students finished up learning about the layers of soil and created a delicious treat to represent the layers. Finally, students were able to put their gardening knowledge to use while they planted their own marigold seeds. We can’t wait to watch them grow!
Keep Calm and Garden On
