The students in Ms. Miller’s and Ms. Binder’s ELT class have been participating in the TomeCon reading competition this year. They have read 7 books throughout the school year. Students have entered various competitions creating artifacts for each of the books. Additionally students have taken tests for the books online competing with other schools in Georgia. These online tests focus on speed and accuracy. We are very proud of our students as they have placed 6th in the state. The culminating activity for the TomeCon is the reading convention hosted at the University of North Georgia Gainesville campus in March. At this convention students will participate in concurrent sessions based on all facets of literacy. Session topics include reading, writing, technology, engineering, art, music and more! Authors from across the country visit with and teach students at the conference. Students also receive awards for their participation in Tome competitions throughout the year.
