Albert Smith

Welcome Westside Families,

It is an honor to be the Principal of Westside Middle School. I am a Barrow County resident who has served the Barrow County School System in several capacities ranging from a science teacher at Winder-Barrow High School to the Assistant Principal at Bear Creek Middle School. Overall, I have been in education for more than 30 years with more than 20 of those years being in the middle school setting.

My vision for Westside centers around three basic principles. These principles, which we call the Westside Ways, are as follows:

We will provide a safe and secure learning environment.

We will treat all students with fairness and respect.

We will provide our students with instruction that is engaging and rigorous.

At Westside, we wish to serve as an extended family to our students so that their experiences at our school are supportive of their development towards becoming productive citizens in our community. I look forward to working with all of our stakeholders which includes students, parents and the community we serve as we strive for a successful school year.
