The excitement was notable as eighth-grade students from BCSS stepped off the buses and onto the vibrant campus of Barrow Arts & Sciences Academy (BASA) for the "Ignite Tours." The day began with an enthusiastic welcome from the BASA Cheerleaders, whose spirited cheers and infectious energy set the perfect tone for what was to come.
As the students walked through the halls, they were thrilled by the atmosphere of BASA. It was more than just a school; it was a place where innovation and creativity thrived. The students got a taste of what a typical day at BASA looked like, and it was anything but ordinary. From interactive classrooms to state-of-the-art facilities, every corner of the campus was filled with activity and excitement.
One of the highlights of the tour was the CTAE Career Fair, students could explore various career paths and meet professionals from the community. Whether they were interested in engineering, healthcare, or even American Sign Language, there was something for everyone. The fair was a gateway to the future, offering students a glimpse into the possibilities that lay ahead.
But the adventure didn’t stop there. The students visited classrooms to see how subjects like Engineering and Healthcare Science were brought to life through hands-on projects.
Throughout the day, administrators and staff provided valuable insights into what makes BASA special. They shared information about the school’s programs and the unique opportunities available to students. Their passion for education was evident, and it was clear that they were dedicated to helping each student succeed.
By the end of the tour, the students were buzzing with excitement. They had experienced a day in the life of a BASA student and were eager to be a part of this innovative community. With over 1,100 students from our middle schools participating in the tours, it was clear that BASA had made a lasting impression.
“The students I spoke with loved the hands-on approach to learning and the vibrant campus life. We can’t wait to welcome more students to ignite their futures at BASA,” said BASA Principal Thomas Thrailkill.
FAMILY DAY & ENROLLMENT WINDOW
For those who missed the tours or want to learn more, BASA is hosting a Family Day on November 13 from 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM. It’s a fantastic opportunity for families to explore the campus and meet the staff. The enrollment window for BASA is from November 11, 2024, to January 2, 2025, and the school welcomes students from all educational backgrounds.
“We encourage students and families to be a BASA Blazer to experience their education and passions through our innovative classrooms and real-world educational experiences,” said a BASA representative.
