The Barrow County School System encourages curiosity and inventiveness in our students. These qualities are nurtured and celebrated in our middle and high schools through our Science & Engineering Fair process. Participation is open to all 6th - 12th grade students. Students compete at the school level for nominations to the system level fair held in January each year, with gold medal projects advancing to the Northeast Georgia Regional Science & Engineering Fair, and then potentially to the State Fair.
Detailed information regarding the entire process can be found on the BCSS Science & Engineering Fair page.
The Barrow County School System holds fine arts instruction in high regard as a vital component of a well-rounded education. Barrow County students have access to high quality instruction in a wide variety of art forms ranging from General Music, Instrumental and Choral Music, Visual Art, Theater, Dance & Choreography, as well as diverse forms of Digital Art including Audio, Video & Film Production and Graphics Design.
While most of our fine arts programs hold performances or exhibits throughout the year, this is especially true during the months of March, April, and May. We have designated this special time each year as the school system's Fine Arts Festival in order to celebrate the creativity and talent of all of our young artists and musicians.
A schedule of fine arts events can be found on the Fine Arts Festivities page.
